Antelope Island and family

Went home in June to see family and to spend time with Andrew.... HE"S HOME!!!!! Lots of fun:) So sad that I didn't get one, ONE sticking photo with him. BLAST! However we did get a new photo of everyone:)
When my parents picked us up we headed straight to Antelope Island. I went once as a little kid but only remember driving across on the cosway (or however you spell the darn thing). Ty went once too but didn't remember a whole lot. Also We needed to go, people ask us when we reply that we are from Utah if we have ever been to the Great Salt Lake. We feel a little sheepish that we reply no.... so we wanted to fix that.
The weather was great that day and BEA-U-TIFUL!

Loved this little visitor center. What a fun and neat place. Highly recommend going there.

A volunteer asked us if we wanted to see a big ole barn owl. He took us down into the tall grass and trees and showed us this HUGE owl. I took a picture of it, but you can't really see it. He also showed us another tree where the 2 baby olws were hanging out.

After visiting the farm we walked out to the Great Salt lake. Ty dipped his shoes in the water while I got in feet and all. I was surprised to see how many people actually swimming in it. Too stinky and way too many flies for me.

Logan and Jenn invited us to go hiking with them up Little Cottonwood canyon (or was it Big Cottonwood canyon...oh well). The hikes were beautiful!

Here we are at Donut falls.

Then we did another hike up to Dog lake.

We also went camping up at Timpanooke and had lots of fun. Ty and I rode with Andrew in his nice big loud truck:) It was lots of fun hanging out with him through the week. So happy that Andrew is home! And it was great to see family up in Utah!!!
Lastly, The Day family photo of 2014. Sure do love my family:)

Apricot Jam.....YUM!

So we have this HUGE apricot tree in the backyard and this year it was crazy overfilled with those awesome fruits! That means lots and lots of apricot jam for us and for neighbors and friends. My friend Rachel came over and we picked 4 bag fulls of the ripe ones and set to work. Thank heavens for her ninja blender, got the work done much faster. That day we made 17 pints of jam, total success!

Wished I would have thought to take pictures of the huge pot on the stove with the jam mixture....especially when it boiled over. There's always next time right?
