Houston Texas

With Ty's job he gets to travel and visits some students at Texas A&M. He goes out about 4 times a year and sometimes more. McCall, Ty's sister, lives with her family in Cypress about an hour away from the Houston airport. Ty will go early and visit his sister and her family before he goes to work with the students. I was lucky enough to go with him because I don't have a job yet. We left Thursday from the ABQ airport after being delayed three hours due to the high winds, so very fun.  McCall picked us up from the airport around one in the morning, bless her heart. We stayed with McCall's family through Sunday and had a lot of fun!

Our first day in Houston we went to Kemah Boardwalk. This was a fun little place with little rides for kids and different places to eat right next to the ocean.

Loved these rules especially the second one:)

Ty's neice Brynlee wanted to ride the train with Ty and I. The train ride wasn't too bad and we got to see a lot of Kemah.

For lunch we ate at the original Joe's Crab Shack. The food was really good and for dessert got this huge Key Lime Pie. With the four of us we couldn't finish it off.

Some pics of us walking around the boardwalk. The weather was pretty warm and there was a warm wind. Pretty much the whole time it was overcast, a true blessing!

The star on Texas is where Kemah is located.

The next day we participated on our very first crawfish boil. McCall's neighbors do this once a year where they get together and have a crawfish boil. So much fun and it was really good too! The nephews taught us how to peel the crawfish and how to eat them. Here is Colton showing off his plate.
The neighbors sitting around getting ready to start.
 Ty pulling apart his crawfish
Cayden showing us how to do it.

When they boiled the crawfish they also put in corn on the cob, sausage, whole potatoes and onions, and some mushrooms. It really was so good!

On our way to church and to Texas A&M we passed this road a couple times. It is by far my favorite of all favorite road signs.

We also went to Brady's soccer game. He is in the blue and middle. Right after this pic he collided with another player and rolled his ankle:( It was still fun to go to his game and watch him play.

The trip to Houston was lots of fun, humid but fun:) It was also great to stay with Ty's sister and her family. I would definently go again if I have the chance!

Gone fishin'

We went fishing to Lake Cochiti and it was FULLY AWESOME! On the lovely drive to get there Ty mentioned how he wanted to catch a fish called a Pike and that maybe it might just happen. Now these fish can get very very big measuring up to 40 inches. We got to the lake and I launched Ty off on the boat. I parked the truck and then met Ty down at the lake.

When Ty went last month he caught a fish over by the dam so we went back to the same spot in hope of some luck. Ty caught a couple of Big Mouth's and we were able to keep one. Both of our lures kept getting stuck in the rocks and we had both lost some of them. Ty was nice enough to lend me his fishing lure and I started to cast off. After about 15 minutes I thought I got it stuck on a rock or a tree limb. I started yanking and told Ty that I was stuck again. Ty came over to help and that's when my line moved out towards the lake, I CAUGHT A FISH! It took a lot of coaching from Ty to keep my calm and not to lose the fish. Then the fish surfaced. . . holy fire this fish was huge!!! Ty was shocked and then he recognized the fish, a PIKE! That's when I squealed and Ty had to keep my calm. Once the fish was up next to the boat Ty caught him in the fishing net, a nice squeezed fit.
Ty had me stand on the back of the boat because he didn't want me to get in the way of the nasty teeth. He also gave me direct orders to not get scared when the fish flopped and to not fall in the lake. . . what a nice and caring husband right?:)

Here are some pics of the nasty teeth on these things. This is way I get nervous swimming in lakes and rivers.

Here ya go folks. This pike weighed in at 5 pounds and 27 inches. Ty did an awesome job of the filets and the we had a BBQ. This fish was yummy and we hope to catch many many more of them!

The big 30!

Ty loves cake donuts so that was his birthday cake. He blew out three candles for his big 30th birthday! Happy happy birthday Ty, I sure do love ya!!!
This is a fun picture. Ty was shaving off his beard and then came into the room to show me this. . . the 1/2 beard.
Isn't he just handsome?:)

Smokey the Bear

On our way back from our honeymoon in Ruidoso NM, we had to stop by this beauty!
We saw it in one of the books at the hotel and made the decision to go. Anywho, So how Smokey came about. The Government during WWI or WWII, I can't remember which one for sure, wanted to make the people more aware of the fires they were starting. So they decided to make a bear into a spokesman for the forests. After 4 years of advertising this bear, they found a real life mascot to us. There was a wild fire in Capitan NM where a young bear cub was found clinging to a tree. They rescued the poor cub and doctored his burned feet. This is when they named the bear Smokey. Touching story right. They shipped the bear to Washington DC for the Zoo there and even gave him a mate named Goldie. After Smokey passed on from this life, his body was shipped back to Capitan and the grave is appropriately marked.

A Sneak Peek

So the wedding day. . . Can I just say PERFECT!:) It was everything I could have hoped for. Okay I will confess that I was fully prepared for a rainy day and was really excited to have pictures in the rain with umbrellas. But while driving to my hair appt and then to the temple in horizontal snow. . . I got a little nervous. After the ceremony the sealer said that the snow would clear up for our photo's. Bless Brother Pederson!!!!! Once we got outside the snow stopped falling and we were able to get some really good shots. Our photographer Lindsey and also Jana did a great job.
Anywho here are some photo's that Lindsey sent us to keep us occupied while she works on the rest. We hope the others come REAL SOON!

March Madness

For Christmas I was truely spoiled by Ty. He got me tickets to go with him to the MW Basketball Conference in Las Vegas. . . FULLY AWESOME! I have always loved watching March Madness, you can even ask my mom. I would watch it on Saturdays when I wasn't at school. Anywho so it was really fun to go and watch it in person. Ty and I met up at the good ole Las Vegas airport and then made our way to the MGM for our show of KA. But first we made a little diversion to this little place. . . . what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas:)

This is coming out of the show, sorry it's so blurry. The show was pretty good. I really liked the stage the best. This stage would move in circles and then stand strait up while the people were doing acrobatics. It was hard to follow the story line. Characters were coming in and out. I was watching it and then Tarzan comes swinging out onto the stage in his loin cloth. . . it was weird.

This kind of gives you the idea of what it looked like inside. Once again the photo is not the best, please don't judge. We walked in to find our seats and I was just amazed how beautiful it was. Poor Ty kept hearing that from me again and again and again and again. . . well you get the point.

After the show we walked the strip to look around. Okay the last time I was in Vegas is when my family was trying to go to Disneyland and 9/11 happened. Our plane took an emergency landing in Vegas and we were stuck there for a day trying to get home. Needless to say my family and I didn't have the greatest memories from there. But after 11 years a must admit that my feelings have changed a bit. It was fun to walk up and down the street and to see different shops. Ty wanted to stop at the M&M store. Four levels of just pure joy.

Here is the wall of almost every color of M&M they have. It was fun to go in and look around.

The Next day was the beginning of the games, four all together! When I first heard that I about died, seriously. But it turned out to be a lot of fun! During the half we would get up and walk around and then when one game ended and before the next game would start we would also get up and walk around.

Besides watching the games we also watched other people. It is a known fact that I am a people watcher. . . AKA creeper, but not in the bad sense if you know what I mean. Anywho this lovely couple in front of us was a real treat. They got at least five rounds of some red happy juice and everytime the man left to get it, the little boy in the far right corner got a treat too. Ty and I were waiting for him to throw up from all the junk he was eating. By the time the couple finished their fifth round of happy juice, they were all sorts of entertainment. My favorite was his move of trying to touch her face romantically. . . it turned out to be scrubbing her face. The end of our show happened when she got ticked over who-knows-what and left him without saying a word. Pure entertainment.

The next day we had two games to go to in the afternoon so we decided that we needed some exercise and to be outside. We made our way to Red Rock Canyon and did a hike there.

We hiked up into this canyon and there were these rocks that were pretty rad. They looked like the had the bad case of the chicken pox.

The scenery was BEAUTIFUL! We were only able to do one hike. Next time we will plan in more time to be able to do more.

More pics of the games.

The fans were yet again just as enjoyable as the games. This Lobo fan really got into it, bless his heart. The last day for the championship it was New Mexico University vs San Diego State Univeristy. This poster was hilarious to me. It reads: San Diego is not a State. That is all:)

This was the rush to the floor when NMU won. GO LOBOS!!!!

After that game we met up with Ty's friend and his fiance at the Bellagio for dinner and then to watch the fountain show. Ty's friend was awesome for letting us stay at his place! This is us trying to get a picture in front of the tower across the street. Such a pretty picture uh?:)

Inside the Bellagio after entering the building. This glass art is on the ceiling. It was really pretty!

This was a chocolate store inside. This chocolate fountain started on the ceiling and then made its way down to the floor. Pretty impressive it was.

The after effects of trying to book it to a game and having my inserts rub me the wrong way. It happened to both heels. That night I could feel my heart beat in my heels and it kept waking me up. It hurt to walk but got better. Now comes the nice procedure of draining the blood from it:)
