Navajo Lake

Ty has always wanted to go to Navajo Lake and this past weekend we made it there. It was Ty's Friday off and we decided that it was okay to take off on a Thursday (only one vacation day required:). It was a long drive, 4.5 hours, but well worth it. Navajo Lake is on the boarders New Mexico and Colorado, very pretty area!

We arrived and set up camp and then headed to the lake. We caught a couple of tiny fish and released them back. We saw lots of carp, they were huge! You can see the fish in the next two pics.

The next day we went up Pine canyon. I will say this now. . . we totally got skunked, no fish at all that day. A total bummer. But we got to see lots of pretty areas on the lake. There were some cliff areas and you can kind of see the birds near their nests.

We were visited by these two, popped out of no where.

And the fishing continues. . .

Our loverly camp site. It was a nice area overlooking the lake. First night was too hot and sticky. Second night there was a case of domestic abuse in our camp ground. Our neighbors called the police, but lucky for everyone the guy left. I may or may not have heard this guys truck keep coming back just out of anxiety:)

Out of Navajo Lake runs the Juan River. This river is pretty famous for Trout fishing. We went to check it out and was almost destroyed by the mosquitoes. We left quickly after they arrived.

Navajo Lake was very pretty and lots of fun. Maybe someday we will go back and have some better fishing. At the end of our trip we brought home one white bass. . . at least we brought something home:)
